Welcome to the Free Life!

Free Life Chapel - Lakeland, Florida, began in January 2011. We are a non-traditional, multicultural, nondenominational, multi-generational congregation that believes faith and fun are both possible and important to a vibrant Christian faith. We own a passion to engage the unchurched, de-churched (detached from church) and over-churched communities with the relevant, life-changing hope of Jesus. Although unorthodox, we are strategic and intentional with our presentation of the Gospel - protecting it's truth while speaking the language of today's culture.

OUR HISTORY

HOW WE GOT STARTED

January 1, 2011, Scott and Cindy Thomas answered the call of God to start a church… a church that would bring change and new found hope to the lives of thousands of people in the heartland of Central Florida. Equipped with an insatiable passion and love for God and His people we celebrated the New Year by launching the first worship experience as Free Life Chapel. A church, whose mission is to minister to the “un-churched”, (those who do not know the Lord intimately), and to the “de-churched”, (those who have accepted the Lord as Savior but have strayed away and detached themselves from church) and the over-churched (those who are tired of church as they experienced it). Free Life Chapel is equipping Believers to become mature, discipled, “full-court” followers of Christ.

BELIEFS

WE BELIEVE...

1. IN THE VERBAL INSPIRATION OF THE BIBLE
We believe that the entire Bible is God-inspired.
2. IN ONE GOD ETERNALLY EXISTING IN THREE PERSONS; NAMELY, THE FATHER, SON AND THE HOLY GHOST
We do not believe in multiple Gods. Instead, we believe that God is “One” - a triune Being - and that His personage is revealed to mankind as Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
3. That Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of the Father, conceived of the Holy Ghost and born of the Virgin Mary; that Jesus was crucified, buried and raised from the dead; that He ascended to heaven and is today at the right hand of the Father as the Intercessor;
Jesus Christ is the revealed Son of God, as described in the New Testament. His earthly mother, Mary, was a virgin who conceived Jesus by the supernatural working of the Holy Spirit. Once grown, Jesus lived His life to reveal how we can have relationship with God, The Father. At thirty-three years old, Jesus was beaten, crucified, was buried and then resurrected from the dead. Pretty amazing stuff, huh?! So, where did Jesus go? Great question… He went back to Heaven where He sits next to God the Father, and talks to God on our behalf.
4. That all have sinned and come short of the glory of God and that repentance is commanded of God for all and necessary for the forgiveness of sins;
We’ve all sinned, messed up, ‘missed the target’ so-to-speak… and have found ourselves on the fast-track to hell. However, forgiveness for our sins is both required and available to everyone who repents.
5. That justification, regeneration and the new birth are wrought by faith in the blood of Jesus Christ;
Amazingly, Jesus’ work of forgiveness is so deep that we are immediately considered “justified” or “just-as-if-I’d-never-sinned”. Then, our hearts and lives are renewed in an act called regeneration, giving us a fresh-out-of-the-box, brand new life in Jesus. What’s crazy is that this entire life-change happens because of our all-out trust and belief in Jesus as Savior!
6. In sanctification subsequent to the new birth, through faith in the blood of Christ, through the Word, and by the Holy Ghost;
Once we’ve been forgiven for our sins, this next step of our new life begins by cleaning-up our thoughts, decisions, actions and attitudes. This is called ‘sanctification’ or ‘preparing us for a higher use and service to God’. This new level of living is an ongoing process that comes by daily trust in Jesus, obeying the Bible and by allowing God’s Spirit to run our life.
7. In holiness to be God
Let’s get this straight… God is perfect (holy) and keeps a squeaky-clean house! That means His expectation for us is just the same – clean living. We have to do our part in choosing to live a life of high spiritual standard. After all… we are representing the King of the Universe!
8. In the baptism with the Holy Ghost subsequent to a clean heart;
Buckle up and get ready for this one! Once we’ve started our daily pursuit of ‘clean living’, Holy Spirit is now eager to take greater control of our lives so He can download and work His special gifts and promised power through us! This is amazing! We go from getting wet to swimming or being ‘baptized’ in His Spirit...
9. In speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance and that this is the initial evidence of the baptism of the Holy Ghost
The first proof that this spirit-soaking baptism has hit our lives is revealed when God’s Spirit releases in us a new heavenly language – a dialect totally foreign to our world! Weird? Not really… but it is amazingly different! Just like salvation, faith will be required to receive and experience this supernatural language. By the way, this language cannot be taught to you by any human being, this is a totally spiritual experience between you and Holy Spirit.
10. In water baptism by immersion and that all who repent should be baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost
Water baptism is a major step in your new Christian life! Basically, being baptized gives a bold ‘shout-out’ to everyone in our lives that we have asked Jesus to cleanse our hearts from all our sins! The Bible tells us that even Jesus was baptized, and it requires us to do the same in honor and worship to God, the Father, God, the Son, and God, the Holy Spirit.
11. In baptising those who are of the age when they know the meaning and importance of the decision they are making
Every occurrence of baptism in the Bible took place after a person heard the Good News and believed. At FLC, we celebrate baptism the same way. We baptize anyone who has received the Word and made a personal decision to put his or her faith in Jesus. Parents, we encourage you to have your baby dedicated. For more information on baby dedication, please call (863) 688-5053.
12. In divine healing as provided for all in the atonement;
Every Christian has a major benefit package! Other than salvation, another reason Jesus was beaten and crucified was to defeat sickness and disease for everyone that lives for Him. Totally awesome, isn’t it? Healing is available for your life, mind and body.
13. In the pre-millennial second coming of Jesus: first, to resurrect the righteous dead and to catch away the living saints to Him in the air; second, to reign on the earth a thousand years;
The day is coming when every Christian (both dead and alive) will be ‘taken-up’ (raptured) into heaven where we will meet with Christ. This ‘grand exit’ will take place before the world enters a time of chaos and tribulation. Then, we will return to the Earth as magistrates and rulers with Christ for a thousand years. Sound a little “sci-fi”? Nah… just supernatural!
14. In the bodily resurrection: eternal life for the righteous and eternal punishment for the wicked
A Day of Judgment is on the way - one that will both bless Christians and punish unbelievers… for eternity (that’s a really long time).
